the state of the nose

this little news story reminded me that it might be time for an update on my nose/sinus/ lack of smelling problem.

it’s getting better slowly….very, very slowly. i can smell some things quite well and not just  obvious, strong, offensive odors. …occasionally i get a distinct smell of something quite nice but i am still struggling with most things and spend an awful lot of time putting things right up to my nose and taking a big whiff! i also think i am just getting used to it~~which makes me really sad~~

i hate to laugh at other people’s misfortune but i love the last line in this story…and for anyone who thinks this is not a big thing…i think this proves that wrong!

Rotten office fridge cleanup sends 7 to hospital

SAN JOSE, Calif. – An office worker cleaning a fridge full of rotten food created a smell so noxious that it sent seven co-workers to the hospital and made many others ill. Firefighters had to evacuate the AT&T building in downtown San Jose on Tuesday, after the flagrant fumes prompted someone to call 911. A hazmat team was called in.

What they found was an unplugged refrigerator that had been crammed with moldy food.

Authorities said an enterprising office worker had decided to clean it out, placing the food in a conference room while using two cleaning chemicals to scrub down the mess. The mixture of old lunches and disinfectant caused 28 people to need treatment for vomiting and nausea.

Authorities said the worker who cleaned the fridge didn’t need treatment — she can’t smell because of allergies.

  1. Hmmm, that’s a story I should copy and paste to the people who use the fridge at our office and then never throw out the stuff they didn’t eat!!!

Do you have any allergies that could be adding to the problem?

Don’t worry about getting used to it, that may be the best thing because stressing about it is probably going to make it take longer for your normal sense of smell to come back…I HOPE it comes back!!

  2. weird thing is i have had really, really bad hayfever all my life…until i moved here!! i don’t any hayfever in england!!!
