what a difference a week makes

last week i was sitting here, bone tired during a stint of 4 night shifts, in the hot sun with my imminently flying the coop teenage son, james…cooking his last supper on this>>>>

this week??? i am cried out but relieved that my now independent son has flown himself transatlantic (for the 8th time), bought his own groceries, received his lost luggage after 5 days gone missing….spending the weekend with his childhood friends and shaking his head at their small minds…AND looking forward to talking to an advisor at northeastern illinois university…and, AND soon to be using that most precious possession a person can have, his social security card to become….EMPLOYED!!!! albeit 15-20 hours a week!!!

me?? i am only working two night shifts and only slightly tired, sitting here in cool, rainy weather cooking on this…

here she is in action…

that picture really doesn’t do her justice, although you can see my fajitas cooking on top and the tortillas warming in the oven. here’s a better one that shows her in her all her shiny glory looking like a diamond in a pile of dirt that is my stripped down kitchen…

she needs a name...sophie???

so….that’s my week, not easy but it has ended on a good note!!

hopefully next week will bring more good news!!!

  1. Man, you’re as bad as my parents! They bought ‘our’ first color TV the week after I left home at 18!!! 😉

  2. ‘will look even better when neil lays down your new slate floors and panels your walls!’

Does this mean you two are planning a visit?!!!

  3. i think birmingham has almost recovered from rose’s last visit!! i saw a big sign at BHX saying we are now allowing entry to 5 foot opinionated, chicagoans with perfect teeth!! (joking!)

if you want a hearty name for the stove maybe i should go with bertha or helga??

  4. a bun in this oven??? it would be a crumpet 10 days past its sell by date!!!
thinking about making a serious double batch of florentines…so maybe tina?

  5. it is waay prettier in person!! I was amazed as well… a double oven..and a grill!! kind of small but cute.. and shiny and new.. Tina sounds indepenent and ‘going places’.. LOL!!
